StackSocial is running a bundle deal ($39.99) of some great Mac apps (referral link available here).
I was particularly interested in this bundle because it includes PDFpen 7, Dropzone, MacX DVD Ripper Pro, and BusyContacts.
With PDFpen, I can now use Hazel to further automate my paperless system (more on that in future posts).
There's a video summarizing the software at the above link to help you decide if these software offerings are right for you.

I've been wanting a quick way to insert a checkbox (☐) character into a text file. TextExpander to the rescue. I created the snippet from from my Mac to find the character I wanted, but it will now work on iOS too.
First, you need to be able to view the Character Viewer on your Mac. Open the System Preferences and choose Keyboard.
Then, click "Show Keyboard & Character Viewers in menu bar. You will see an icon next to the clock.
Click on that and choose Character Viewer.
Second, find the checkbox that you want from the available fonts.
Then, right click and copy.
Paste into a new TextExpander Snippet (after removing the unnecessary information). Name the snippet.
The next time you want a checkbox to appear, type your snippet. As I mentioned, this works on both the Mac and iOS versions.

I just finished the 60 Mac Tips, Volume 1 - David Sparks & Brett Terpstra, which was excellent.
The other books I purchased and will be reading are:
