The Indiana Lawyer recently published my article on tips for overcoming procrastination with email. These ideas are largely ways to trick yourself into getting actual work done. After all, that’s the name of the game, right?
I’ve seen far too many email inboxes with, um, a lot of email in the inbox (you know who you are). If I have unread email, I can’t relax. Some part of me is always thinking about that email. That’s the point of the article–get the email off of your mind.
Instead of opening your email program, open a text editor (Notepad on Windows) or a Microsoft Word document and draft your response. Then, open the email and copy/paste your reply. It’s more of a one-to-one interaction that can help you focus on writing a response to an email and get that item out of your inbox.
